RE: Yes on AB 1054 (Holden, Burke, Mayes)
Dear Members of the Legislature:
Climate-driven wildfires are the new normal in California. It is not a question of if another catastrophic wildfire hits, but when.
Please vote yes on AB 1054 prior to the legislative recess.
State laws and regulations dealing with fire prevention, accountability and recovery are outdated. Without immediate action, we face the risk of more utility bankruptcies, rising energy costs and a compromised electric system.
AB 1054 is the product of months of research, expert input, and public hearings overseen by Governor Newson’s Wildfire Strikeforce and the Commission on Catastrophic Wildfire Cost and Recovery.
AB 1054 will:
Failure to act before the crisis worsens will create further chaos, compromise future wildfire prevention and recovery, and undoubtedly cost all Californians more.
With fire season upon us, the time to act is now. Wildfires won’t wait.
